The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the systematic collection, analysis, and visualization of both internal UNDP data and external donor data for advocacy, briefing, and reporting purposes. The intern will also assist in analytical and coordination work related to UNDP's partnerships with Germany and Austria, focusing on political developments and trends in development cooperation and donor funding. This role requires the preparation of evidence-based advocacy materials, briefing notes, and presentations, as well as support for official missions and senior-level engagements. The intern will report to the Partnership's Specialist and work under the supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director, contributing to the overall mission of UNDP in fostering strategic relationships and partnerships.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties and responsibilities include:
Supporting the systematic collection, analysis, and visualization of internal UNDP data and external donor data for advocacy, briefing, and reporting purposes.
Assisting in analytical, advocacy, and coordination work related to UNDP's partnerships with Germany and Austria, including conducting research on political developments and trends in development cooperation and donor funding.
Preparing evidence-based advocacy materials, briefing notes, and presentations to support UNDP's mission.
Coordinating and following up on official missions and senior-level engagements in Germany and Austria.
Providing general administrative and organizational support to the Office as required. The intern will be expected to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and must start the internship within one year of graduation. A certification from the school regarding the status of enrollment or graduation is required. Additionally, applicants must have a work authorization permit.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree. Applicants who have recently graduated with a relevant degree are also eligible, provided they can start the internship within one year of graduation. A certification from the educational institution confirming the applicant's enrollment status or graduation is mandatory.
Experience: While professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, applicants are expected to possess strong research skills and the ability to communicate fluently in German, as a video interview in German will be conducted for shortlisted candidates. Practical experience or demonstrated aptitude in data collection, analysis, and management is advantageous. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in international affairs, development cooperation, and partnerships, particularly in the context of data and evidence in advocacy and policy dialogue.
Languages: Fluency in German is mandatory for this position, as the intern will be required to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms. Strong skills in English are also necessary, as the intern will be expected to prepare materials and reports in English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
Additional Notes: The internship is expected to be full-time, with flexibility allowed for educational commitments. Interns may receive a stipend to cover basic daily expenses, such as meals and transportation, if they are not financially supported by any institution or program. The stipend will be paid monthly, and part-time arrangements will be prorated accordingly. Interns are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of the internship and must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan. It is important to note that interns are not eligible for employment with UNDP during the internship period and should not expect further employment opportunities as a result of the internship. The intern will be evaluated at the end of the contract.
