Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in enhancing institutional frameworks and responses to gender-based violence (GBV) and domestic violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This position involves serving as a focal point for project activities aimed at improving the operational capacities of justice and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security systems. The coordinator will support the development of training methodologies, policy recommendations, and institutional guidance to enhance survivor support and accountability. Additionally, the role includes coordinating public kitchen initiatives and social entrepreneurship projects, ensuring that vulnerable groups receive essential services and opportunities. The Project Coordinator will also facilitate collaboration with various stakeholders, including government ministries, civil society organizations, and UN agencies, to promote synergies across project components and ensure effective service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Serving as a focal point for GBV and domestic violence prevention and response activities, enhancing institutional and operational capacities.
Supporting and monitoring project activities, including developing training methodologies for justice and security systems.
Coordinating the preparation of policy recommendations and institutional guidance to improve survivor support and accountability.
Organizing training sessions for police officers, prosecutors, and judges, including logistical arrangements and reporting.
Collaborating with gender centres and national consultants to align protocols and procedures with domestic violence legislation.
Coordinating needs assessments for public kitchens and supporting procurement and distribution of essential equipment.
Designing skills-development initiatives for vulnerable groups, including vocational training and entrepreneurship support.
Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes, including beneficiary satisfaction and employment linkages.
Ensuring coordination with UN agencies and partners, preparing project documentation, and capturing success stories. 1
Promoting gender equality and human rights principles in all project activities, ensuring inclusive communication and reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Political Sciences, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Economics, Law, or Natural Science. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) combined with two years of qualifying work experience will be considered. The position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to gender equality and social inclusion principles. Candidates should demonstrate experience in implementing programs addressing GBV and domestic violence, as well as in organizing training sessions for diverse audiences. Experience in building partnerships with government institutions, civil society, and UN agencies is also essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in fields such as Political Sciences, Public Policy and Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Law, or Natural Science. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in these areas, along with two years of relevant work experience, will also be considered. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of governance, social issues, and development practices relevant to the role.
Experience: The level of experience required for this position varies based on educational qualifications. Applicants with a Master’s degree are not required to have prior professional work experience. However, those with a Bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional administrative or project experience at the national or international level. Experience in implementing and monitoring programs related to GBV and domestic violence is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders and preparing narrative reports.
Languages: Fluency in English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders, project documentation, and reporting. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: This position is based in the UNDP BiH office in Sarajevo and involves frequent fieldwork travel. The role is expected to adhere to UNDP regulations and internal control frameworks, reporting directly to the Project Manager.
