Job Overview:
The Psychosocial Risk Management Capacity Building Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the UN's Mental Health & Well-being Strategy. This position focuses on developing a comprehensive psychosocial risk management tool that can be utilized across the UN system to assess mental health risks to personnel, prevent risks more effectively, and evaluate the return on investment of mitigation measures. The consultant will lead capacity-building initiatives, providing technical leadership to assess existing practices and strengthen institutional capacity. The role is positioned at the intersection of organizational and staff development, data analytics, and well-being, contributing to broader organizational transformation by generating actionable insights and fostering evidence-based decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing existing policies related to HR, Health and Safety, and Enterprise Risk Management, as well as employee support services and practices. They will synthesize staff survey findings to identify systemic trends and organizational vulnerabilities. The consultant will design and deliver targeted training modules to enhance organizational competencies in psychosocial risk management. Additionally, they will develop an implementation toolkit that includes user manuals, operational guidance, and role-specific protocols for staff, managers, and support personnel. The consultant will also provide expert advisory support to integrate psychosocial risk management into broader well-being strategies and governance frameworks, ensuring that the UN system entities are equipped to manage psychosocial risks effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (PhD) in Occupational Health Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Organizational Psychology, or Management. A minimum of 10 years of combined experience in psychosocial risk management, training, and capacity building is required. Candidates should have experience implementing multi-agency psychosocial risk management projects with international organizations, as well as designing and delivering capacity-building initiatives, including developing training materials and facilitating sessions. Expertise in evidence-based research and complex data analysis is essential, along with the ability to synthesize survey data and produce actionable recommendations. Strong facilitation and presentation skills are necessary, with a proven track record of conducting interactive training or workshops for diverse, multicultural audiences. Experience advising senior leadership and contributing to organizational and staff capacity building is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (PhD) in relevant fields such as Occupational Health Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Organizational Psychology, or Management is mandatory for this position. This educational background ensures that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively address psychosocial risks in the workplace.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of combined experience in psychosocial risk management, training, and capacity building. Candidates should have a strong background in implementing multi-agency psychosocial risk management projects, particularly with international organizations. Experience in designing and delivering capacity-building initiatives, including the development of training materials and facilitation of sessions, is essential. Prior experience working with the UN system or other international organizations is desirable, as is experience drafting technical reports and strategic documents for diverse audiences.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage, enhancing the consultant's ability to communicate effectively within the UN system.
