Job Overview:
The Finance Analyst position is crucial for the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Secretariat, which supports women-led organizations in peacebuilding and humanitarian responses. The Finance Analyst will work under the guidance of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director for Financial Management and the Operations Specialist, providing financial assistance to the WPHF and its various windows, including the Rapid Response Window and Women Human Rights Defenders. The role involves ensuring compliance with financial regulations, training finance users, and supporting country offices in implementing WPHF programs. The Finance Analyst will also coordinate financial planning, analysis, and reporting, ensuring high performance and efficiency in finance operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate financial planning and analysis for the WPHF, ensuring compliance with UN Women’s internal control framework.
  • Monitor financial systems and reports, investigating anomalies and ensuring compliance with IPSAS accounting standards.
  • Draft financial reports for donors and governments, tracking contributions and ensuring timely responses to audit findings.
  • Coordinate the audit process, preparing for audits and responding to inquiries related to financial management.
  • Manage programme/project budgets, preparing and monitoring budgets for the Fund’s Secretariat and management projects.
  • Provide financial training and communication support, ensuring effective finance tools are in place.
  • Participate in knowledge management and capacity building, recommending enhancements to financial modules.
  • Oversee financial tasks, ensuring accurate processing of transactions and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or a professional accounting qualification from an internationally recognized institute is required. Successful completion of UN Women’s Accounting technical test is also necessary. Candidates should have a strong understanding of financial planning and management, complex financial rules and regulations, and experience in implementing financial systems and policies. Knowledge of IPSAS/IFRS and good analytical skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting, or a professional accounting qualification from a recognized institute. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of financial management within the UN framework.

Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in an accounting-specific role within a large international organization, preferably in the UN system, is required. Candidates should have demonstrated financial experience using an ERP financial system and in providing financial and budget support to programs/projects. Experience in developing detailed financial reports for senior management and supporting multiple offices simultaneously is desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable, enhancing communication and collaboration in a diverse work environment.
