Job Overview: The Health Safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (HSS) Coordinator position is crucial for managing HSS risk within the organization. The role involves developing, updating, and implementing HSS strategies, plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and secure access to programs. The HSS Coordinator will work closely with the Area Manager and the HSS Manager in the Country Office, overseeing security staff and ensuring compliance with NRC's HSS Management Systems. This position requires a proactive approach to risk management, including conducting Security Risk Analyses (SRAs) and liaising with other humanitarian actors to address HSS-related issues. The HSS Coordinator will also be responsible for training staff on health, safety, and security protocols, acting as an advisor during crises, and preparing regular reports on HSS matters.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HSS Coordinator will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and implementing NRC's HSS Management Systems and Procedures; conducting regular Security Risk Analyses (SRAs) to assess compliance with HSS standards; facilitating adherence to South Sudan-specific SOPs; supporting area and field offices in achieving HSS compliance; participating in assessment missions to expand operational capacity; managing security staff and providing training and capacity-building; preparing situational updates and reports for management; ensuring all staff receive necessary HSS training; and liaising with UN agencies and NGOs for security information. The role also includes monitoring vehicle and staff movements, ensuring the functionality of security equipment, and reporting any breaches of safety and security procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Diploma in a security-related field, with previous experience working in a security department within a humanitarian context. Participation in safety and security-related trainings or workshops is essential. A good understanding of the local context is required, along with the ability to conduct security risk assessments and effectively document findings. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for interacting with relevant authorities and institutions to gather security-related information.
