Duties and Responsibilities: The Aviation Security Assistant will undertake a variety of responsibilities including: developing detailed security plans and AVSEC documentation for the Bentiu region; reviewing current safety and security measures for passenger and air cargo protection; designing and implementing AVSEC guidelines in line with the DPKO Aviation Manual; assessing safety measures aboard aircraft and reviewing anti-hijacking procedures; organizing and presenting training curricula for AVSEC personnel; preparing daily safety assessments and reports; briefing crew and staff on AVSEC issues; coordinating with aviation safety, UNDSS, and local security authorities; providing on-the-job training for national staff; routinely briefing the Chief Aviation Officer on AVSEC matters; implementing access control measures around airstrips and helipads; and performing any additional duties assigned by the OIC Air Operation of Bentiu region.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the Aviation Security (AVSEC) field is required. A valid driving permit for light vehicles is also necessary. Basic training in AVSEC from recognized organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is mandatory. Advanced training in AVSEC and a 'train the trainer' qualification are desirable but not required.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent certification. Additional training in aviation security from recognized institutions is highly valued and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of progressively responsible experience in the Aviation Security sector. This experience should encompass a range of responsibilities related to aviation safety and security, demonstrating a solid understanding of AVSEC protocols and practices.
