Job Posting Organization: UNOPS Myanmar is a prominent office within the UNOPS network in Asia, established to manage significant development programs in Myanmar. It serves as the Principal Recipient for the Global Fund in Myanmar and oversees initiatives targeting drug-resistant malaria in the greater Mekong sub-region. Job Overview: The Senior security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officer will operate under the supervision of the Field advisor" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Advisor and will be responsible for a range of security-related functions. This includes planning and advising on security and safety matters for daily operations, conducting security assessments, maintaining and updating Security SOPs, and ensuring compliance with mandatory security measures. The role requires the preparation of security situation reports, participation in Security Management Team meetings, and liaising with UNDSS and other security offices. The officer will also provide training and advice to staff on security issues, manage security equipment, and develop security risk assessments. The position emphasizes the importance of integrating safety and security into all programs at the duty station and ensuring appropriate funding is allocated based on actual needs. The Senior Security Officer will also be responsible for preparing an annual security work plan and budget, ensuring compliance with UN security management policies, and maintaining accurate records of personnel and security-related information.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Security Officer will perform a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: planning and advising on security matters, conducting routine and exceptional security assessments, maintaining and updating Security SOPs, reporting security matters to the Field Security Advisor, preparing security situation reports, attending SMT meetings, liaising with UNDSS, providing training on security issues, participating in inquiries related to security incidents, establishing and monitoring security measures, managing security equipment, developing security risk assessments, ensuring timely submissions of travel security clearance requests, maintaining country files on security issues, ensuring safety and security are core components of all programs, preparing an annual security work plan and budget, and liaising with local government security organizations to gather and assess security information.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in security, management, social science, or a related field, or have senior staff qualifications. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with relevant academic qualifications and experience may be accepted. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in international security management or law enforcement is required, with 4 years of experience considered equivalent if holding a bachelor's degree. Experience within the UN system is desired, and familiarity with security planning in national or international organizations is highly desirable. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as security, management, or social sciences. Candidates with a first-level university degree and a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may also be considered. The emphasis is on having a strong educational foundation that supports the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in international security management or law enforcement. Candidates with a bachelor's degree should have at least 4 years of similar experience. Familiarity with law enforcement agencies is also beneficial, along with proficiency in office software applications.

Additional Notes: The contract type for this position is a Local Individual Contractor Agreement at the LICA-9 level, with an open-ended duration subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
