Job Overview: The Humanitarian Programme Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of UNFPA's humanitarian response programming in Myanmar. Reporting to the Programme Specialist for Humanitarian & Gender Based Violence (GBV), the analyst will work closely with the Humanitarian Programme Associate and thematic teams within UNFPA. The position involves analyzing political, social, and economic trends to inform humanitarian activities, monitoring implementation results, and ensuring effective coordination with various stakeholders, including UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations. The analyst will also contribute to the formulation of humanitarian components of the country programme, ensuring alignment with UNFPA's strategic goals and the United Nations Transitional Cooperation Framework. This role is vital for integrating emergency preparedness and response into UNFPA's work, thereby strengthening national capacities to provide essential services in humanitarian settings.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Humanitarian Programme Analyst will be responsible for a range of duties including:
Strategic Support and Environmental Scanning: Analyze the political, social, and economic environment relevant to UNFPA's activities, identifying opportunities for assistance and intervention, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Contribute to environmental scanning and maintain communication during emergencies.
Coordination: Establish collaborative relationships with executing agencies, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely delivery of humanitarian interventions. Participate in humanitarian coordination mechanisms and represent UNFPA in relevant events and meetings.
Technical Support and Programming: Formulate humanitarian components of the country programme, monitor project activities, provide technical support to partners, and identify capacity strengthening needs.
Advocacy and Communication: Develop advocacy and communication materials related to humanitarian work in collaboration with relevant teams.
Perform other duties as assigned by UNFPA.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in public health, gender studies, population, demography, or related fields. They should have at least two years of professional experience in development and population-related activities, including project management. Field experience in addressing sexual and reproductive health issues in emergency contexts is preferred, along with knowledge of GBV, HIV, and protection issues. Experience in facilitating training sessions and supporting local partners is also desirable. Proficiency in office software and web-based management systems is required.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in public health, gender studies, population, demography, or other related fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of humanitarian programming and the specific needs of populations affected by crises.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in development and population-related activities, including program or project management.
