Job Overview: The Project Coordinator position is critical for managing and implementing emergency livelihoods interventions in Myanmar. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the FAO Representative and collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including local partners and technical officers. The role requires expertise in coordinating and designing emergency interventions that are contextually relevant and technically sound. The Project Coordinator will ensure that all project activities are executed with high quality, adhering to humanitarian principles and standards. This position is also responsible for monitoring project implementation, proposing necessary adjustments, and ensuring compliance with established guidelines. The role is pivotal in fostering partnerships and ensuring effective communication among stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will undertake a variety of tasks, including supporting the Emergency and Rehabilitation Coordinator in managing project activities, preparing agreements with local partners, organizing meetings to discuss project progress, and ensuring compliance with local standards for beneficiary identification. The coordinator will monitor project implementation, identify inconsistencies, and propose corrective measures as needed. Additionally, the role involves developing technical specifications for project inputs, ensuring timely implementation of activities, conducting field visits for monitoring, and promoting good relations with stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will also contribute to the formulation of monitoring and evaluation plans, draft project reports, and guide and supervise field assistants in their activities. The position requires collaboration with other FAO projects to promote synergies and ensure comprehensive project execution.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, economics, social science, or a related field. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in managing and coordinating food security, resilience, and rural development programs is required. Additionally, candidates must have a working knowledge of English and must be Myanmar nationals. Familiarity with FAO policies and programs is considered a strong asset, along with relevant experience in the United Nations system and internationally funded projects. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and writing skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, economics, or social science. It is essential that candidates have obtained their qualifications from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). This ensures that the educational credentials are valid and meet international standards.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the management and coordination of programs related to food security, resilience, and rural development. Candidates should have experience working in complex, international environments and possess a strong understanding of project formulation, analysis, planning, and implementation. Experience in field positions and with internationally funded projects is highly desirable, as is the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and remote locations.
Languages: A working knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context in Myanmar.
