Job Overview:
The Education Specialist role at NRC involves leading the technical development of the Education Core Competency within the Myanmar mission. The position requires a strategic leader who can provide technical guidance, ensure quality assurance, and mentor education staff. The role encompasses the development of education strategies, fundraising efforts, proposal and budget development, and the implementation of projects that align with NRC's mission. The Education Specialist will also be responsible for building the capacity of technical staff, fostering stakeholder relations, and participating in education-related coordination mechanisms. This position is ideal for individuals who possess analytical and strategic thinking skills, along with a proven track record of leading effective teams in complex environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop and implement education strategies and provide technical guidance to ensure alignment with NRC's mission and objectives.
  • Lead the development of macro logical frameworks and approaches for education programming.
  • Oversee fundraising efforts, including proposal writing, budget development, and donor reporting.
  • Ensure technical quality and synergies in project implementation across various education initiatives.
  • Extract key learnings from projects and incorporate them into ongoing development processes.
  • Conduct capacity building and training sessions for technical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relations, networking, and partnerships to support education initiatives.
  • Represent NRC in forums, clusters, and working groups related to education.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in education within a humanitarian or recovery context.
  • Proficiency in market analysis, cash-based interventions, and market-based programs.
  • Experience working in complex and volatile environments.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead collaborative teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in education, social sciences, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in education or humanitarian response may be preferred.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in education programming, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts. A minimum of several years of relevant work experience is expected, with a focus on technical guidance, project implementation, and capacity building.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the context may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Yangon, Myanmar, and is offered on a 12-month contract basis. The role may require approximately 25% travel. NRC operates under a National Salary Scale, and the position is classified as Grade 9, which includes a competitive compensation and benefits package.
