Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence Specialist will play a crucial role in the Myanmar mission by providing technical development for the Protection core competency. This position involves setting strategic direction and ensuring quality assurance in the implementation of protection programs. The role holder will be responsible for mentoring and training staff, enhancing their capacity to deliver effective protection services. The specialist will also engage in fundraising activities, develop proposals, and prepare donor reports, ensuring that the organization meets its financial and operational goals. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection from Violence Specialist will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Developing and implementing the Protection from Violence strategy, ensuring alignment with NRC's overall mission and objectives.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to technical standards and best practices in protection programming.
  • Engaging in fundraising efforts, including the development of proposals, budgets, and donor reports to secure funding for protection initiatives.
  • Identifying trends, technical standards, and donor priorities to inform program development and implementation.
  • Supporting project implementation by providing technical direction and facilitating synergies between different projects.
  • Extracting key learnings from program implementation and incorporating them into future development processes.
  • Conducting capacity building and training sessions for technical staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in protection programming.
  • Building and maintaining stakeholder relations, networking, and developing partnerships with other organizations and agencies.
  • Participating in forums, clusters, and working groups to represent NRC and advocate for the needs of affected populations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Protection from Violence Specialist position must possess a strong background in protection programming, particularly in humanitarian or recovery contexts. They should have experience working in complex and volatile environments, demonstrating the ability to navigate challenges effectively. Additional Notes:
This position is based in Yangon, Myanmar, and is offered on a 12-month contract basis. The role may require approximately 25% travel within the country to support program implementation and stakeholder engagement.
