Job Overview:
The Project Assistant – Disability Inclusion will support the Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Processes Project (SELP) in Pakistan, which has been operational since 201
  • This project aims to assist the Election Commission of Pakistan in conducting free, fair, and transparent elections while enhancing the institutional capacity of the ECP. The role involves research, policy development, resource mobilization, contract management, and partnership-building, with a specific focus on the inclusion of marginalized groups, particularly persons with disabilities (PWDs), in electoral processes. The Project Assistant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and disability advocacy groups, to ensure the successful implementation of project initiatives and to promote the participation of traditionally disadvantaged groups in electoral processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting project implementation by assisting in the execution of project activities related to disability inclusion, ensuring alignment with project plans, timelines, and budgets. This includes collaborating with stakeholders, identifying potential risks, and providing regular updates on project progress.
  • Assisting in research, policy, and resource mobilization by developing research designs focused on the inclusion of PWDs, drafting thematic concept notes and policy briefs, and identifying potential partners and funding sources.
  • Supporting partnership development and stakeholder management by building relationships with organizations focused on disability rights, maintaining communication with partners, and ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Assisting in project planning and monitoring by preparing project reports, ensuring achievement of project targets, and organizing review meetings with partners.
  • Supporting knowledge management, communication, and reporting by documenting case studies and maintaining organized records of project data and relevant documents.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess secondary education (12th grade) as a minimum requirement, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development, or a related field being preferred. The role requires a strong understanding of disability inclusion and rights, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least secondary education (12th grade). However, candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields such as Social Sciences or Development will be given preference. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of disability inclusion and the electoral process.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible project experience in disability inclusion and disability rights for candidates with a high school diploma. For those with a Bachelor’s Degree, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of project management, stakeholder engagement, and the specific challenges faced by marginalized groups in electoral processes.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within UNDP and for project documentation. Knowledge of local languages, particularly Urdu, is considered an asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
