The Security Associate will work under the guidance of the Country Representative and the Regional Security Specialist, ensuring effective execution of security plans and risk management measures. The position requires a proactive approach to liaising with local security communities, maintaining communication with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. The Security Associate will also be responsible for training personnel on security awareness and preparedness, thereby fostering a culture of safety within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Associate will perform a variety of duties, including:
  • Providing administrative support for security assessments of UN Women premises and personnel residences.
  • Collecting and analyzing information regarding security threats and incidents affecting UN Women operations.
  • Liaising with local security authorities, including government and non-governmental organizations, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Drafting security announcements and ensuring timely dissemination of security information to personnel.
  • Maintaining and updating the Security Plan and Business Continuity Plan, including emergency contact lists.
  • Monitoring compliance with Security Risk Management Measures (SRMM) and assisting in the completion of security compliance surveys.
  • Reporting security incidents and providing inputs for security reports.
  • Coordinating and conducting training sessions on security awareness for UN Women staff.
  • Supporting the budget and financial management of the Security Team, including preparing budget revisions and monitoring funding applications. 1
  • Providing general administrative support, including maintaining confidential files and organizing security meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of security and risk management, as well as an understanding of the local security situation and laws. The ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations is essential, along with the capability to formulate alternate security plans as needed. Strong communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and effectively are also required. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity in their work.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required for this position. A Bachelor’s degree is considered an asset, providing a competitive edge in the selection process. Candidates must also have their degrees attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, ensuring the authenticity of their educational qualifications.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in security, preferably within military or police contexts, or related fields. Experience working with the UN system, diplomatic missions, or international NGOs is desirable, particularly in areas related to diplomatic security, protection, and intelligence. This level of experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of security management in a diverse and challenging environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Urdu is mandatory for this position, as effective communication in both languages is essential for liaising with various stakeholders and ensuring the safety of personnel. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of individuals and organizations.
