Job Overview:

The role involves the effective execution of security and administrative services at both the country and field office levels. The Security Associate will assist in implementing the security plan, managing risks, and addressing all matters related to safety and security for UN Women personnel. This position requires a client-oriented approach that aligns with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The Security Associate will work under the guidance of the Country Representative and the Regional Security Specialist, providing support in assessing security situations, coordinating with local security communities, and maintaining communication with various stakeholders. The role also includes collecting and disseminating security information, maintaining security plans, and ensuring compliance with established security measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Providing administrative support for security assessments of UN Women premises and personnel residences, including coordinating evaluations and collecting information on security threats.
  • Liaising with local security organizations, including government authorities and NGOs, to maintain regular communication and collaboration.
  • Collecting, updating, and communicating security information, ensuring timely reporting of incidents affecting UN Women personnel and assets.
  • Maintaining and reviewing the Security Plan and Business Continuity Plan, including updating personnel lists and emergency contact information.
  • Monitoring compliance with Security Risk Management Measures (SRMM) and providing logistical support for security compliance evaluations.
  • Reporting security incidents and collating information for security reports.
  • Coordinating and conducting training courses on security awareness and preparedness for UN Women personnel.
  • Providing administrative support for the budget and finances of the Security Team, including inputs for annual work plans and budget revisions.
  • Maintaining routine correspondence files and databases related to security authorities and personnel. 1
  • Organizing security meetings and providing administrative assistance, including taking notes and minutes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of security and risk management, as well as an understanding of the local security situation and laws. The ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations is essential, along with the capability to formulate alternate security plans as needed. Candidates should also demonstrate proficiency in creating, editing, and presenting information in clear formats. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders are critical for this role.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary education is required for this position. A Bachelor’s degree is considered an asset, providing candidates with a competitive edge in the selection process.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience in security, preferably within military or police contexts or related fields. Prior experience with the UN system, diplomatic missions, or international NGOs is desirable, as is experience in diplomatic security, protection, and intelligence.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Urdu is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse teams and stakeholders.
