Job Overview: The position of Graphic Designer for the United Nations Country Team in Turkmenistan involves creating visually compelling designs for various UN publications, including the UN Common Country Analysis (CCA) 2024 evidence package. The designer will be responsible for developing print-ready designs in both English and Russian, ensuring high-quality graphics that effectively communicate key messages and data. The role requires collaboration with the UN RCO Team Leader and Economist to produce reports that meet UN standards and guidelines. The designer will also be tasked with creating online versions of reports for dissemination on the UN Turkmenistan website, contributing to the overall mission of the UN in the country.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Graphic Designer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Developing and formatting the 2024 Results Report into the established design template in English and Russian.
Designing compelling graphics to supplement standard indicator progress charts.
Quality assuring reports to ensure high-quality texts, graphics, and annexes.
Creating the online version of the report for release on the UN Turkmenistan website.
Designing the 2025 Common Country Analysis evidence dissemination package, including the Country Situation Update, Result Groups Factsheets, and Policy Briefs.
Designing the UNSDCF Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030 in multiple languages.
Structuring and editing inputs into a uniform draft publication.
Advising on the quality of photo materials provided by UN agencies.
Preparing and submitting draft designs for feedback and consolidating comments into final designs. 1
Developing language copies in English and Russian and ensuring timely production of publications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, with a strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design. A minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic production from start to published product is required, along with knowledge of printing processes and color management. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Design Premium, In-Design, CorelDraw, and web design tools is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively, with a client-oriented approach and sensitivity to multicultural environments. Previous experience with CCA products and UNCT annual reports is desirable.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field is required for this position. Additional qualifications in art and design will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a strong foundation in design principles and practices, as well as familiarity with the UN's branding guidelines.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in graphic design and production. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering high-quality graphic materials, with at least 3 examples of previous works to be submitted as part of the application. Experience in working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UN reports and publications, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as the primary language of the publications will be English. Knowledge of Russian is desirable, as the designer will be required to produce materials in both languages. Proficiency in Turkmen is a plus but not mandatory.
