Job Overview:
The Security Associate position is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of UNOPS personnel and assets in Gaza. The role involves conducting routine security assessments, maintaining security information, and implementing security measures in accordance with UNOPS policies and local regulations. The Security Associate will be responsible for analyzing security situations, developing security plans, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. This position requires a proactive approach to security management, particularly in emergency situations, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including local authorities and international organizations. The Security Associate will also provide administrative support and facilitate training initiatives related to security awareness and preparedness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Associate will perform a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: conducting routine security assessments and preparing summaries and recommendations; maintaining staff lists and security information; disseminating security information; reporting on security incidents; representing UNOPS at security meetings; supporting the organization of security training courses; conducting security briefings for new staff; administering security-clearance processes; providing logistical support for security operations; managing information flow and correspondence; organizing meetings and briefings; maintaining confidential files; facilitating emergency communications; overseeing team performance and compliance; liaising with third-party contractors; and contributing to knowledge sharing and training initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of six years of relevant experience in security or operations services, with a strong background in incident reporting, security administration, and field security management. Experience working with UN agencies or international NGOs is highly desirable. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Google Suite, and experience with web-based management systems are required. Candidates should also possess strong communication skills and the ability to prepare detailed security reports in English.

Educational Background:
Completion of secondary school is required for this position. A first university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory. Relevant certifications in security-related studies will be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in security or operations services. This experience should include responsibilities in incident reporting, security administration support, and field security management. Candidates with prior experience in emergency response situations and those who have worked with UN agencies or international NGOs will be preferred. Familiarity with security communication systems and telecommunication is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, along with intermediate knowledge of English. Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within the organization and with external stakeholders.

The contract for this position is open-ended, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance. The role is classified as Local ICA Support at the LICA-6 level.
