Job Overview:
The Field Monitoring Assistant will be stationed at the WFP Palestine Gaza Area Office, where they will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of food assistance and monitoring activities. This position requires the job holder to produce organized and accurate technical work and reports, providing guidance on standard practices to other staff and counterparts. The FMA will be responsible for conducting monitoring activities within a designated coverage area, which includes collecting data, conducting beneficiary interviews, and reporting observations to support the delivery of assistance packages. The role is vital in maintaining the quality and efficiency of WFP's operations in Gaza, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including cooperating partners and beneficiaries, to gather feedback and improve services. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to the humanitarian efforts in Palestine, particularly in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Monitoring Assistant will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: conducting process monitoring for WFP activities across all modalities, ensuring adherence to established plans and monitoring requirements; filling structured surveys and conducting semi-structured beneficiary interviews; reporting unstructured observations from each visit; performing post-distribution monitoring visits at the household level; collecting qualitative data through key informant interviews and focus group discussions; maintaining accurate records of assistance program data, including commodity movements and program checklists; liaising with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback for program reviews; providing guidance to partners on WFP operational practices and monitoring tools; preparing field mission reports to document program implementation; and following emergency response processes for food assistance. The FMA will also be expected to perform any other duties as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completion of secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. A Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines is preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant working experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, analysis, reporting, program assistance, or a humanitarian context. Knowledge of WFP activities in Gaza is mandatory, and prior experience with WFP and in post-distribution monitoring of large-scale cash programs is highly desirable. Understanding food security indicators such as FCS, RCSI, and LCSI is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a secondary school education, with a preference for candidates who have completed a post-secondary certificate in a relevant field. A Bachelor's degree in social sciences, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines is considered desirable and would enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant working experience in areas such as monitoring and evaluation, data collection, analysis, reporting, program assistance, or within a humanitarian context. Candidates should have a solid understanding of WFP's operations and activities in Gaza, as well as experience in post-distribution monitoring of large-scale cash programs. Familiarity with food security indicators is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

This position is offered under a Service Contract at Level 4, with a duty station in Gaza, Palestine.
