Job Overview: The Shelter Cluster Information Management Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the provision of updated daily data to the Shelter Cluster Information Coordinator and the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team. This position involves analyzing, verifying, and preparing reports that align with the identified needs in the Gaza Strip. The officer will be responsible for monitoring project implementation, ensuring compliance with NRC policies, and promoting the rights of beneficiaries in line with the advocacy strategy. The role requires the development of user-friendly reporting formats for shelter assistance, training stakeholders on these tools, and gathering timely data on shelter needs and assistance. The officer will also coordinate with other clusters and OCHA information officers to ensure a comprehensive analysis of the disaster response, and will be responsible for maintaining the Shelter Cluster database and website, ensuring they contain accurate and up-to-date information.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Shelter Cluster Information Management Officer include:
Monitoring day-to-day project implementation and ensuring compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
Ensuring that projects target the most vulnerable beneficiaries and exploring new ways to assist them.
Preparing periodic progress reports and other relevant documents.
Developing simple, user-friendly reporting formats for shelter assistance that include gender disaggregation and cater to vulnerable groups.
Promoting and training stakeholders on the use of developed reporting tools.
Gathering and collating data on shelter needs and assistance in a timely manner, including feedback from the affected population.
Identifying and reporting gaps in shelter assistance to the Shelter Cluster.
Developing methods to share information on shelter needs and solutions with stakeholders and the affected population.
Coordinating with other clusters and OCHA information officers for cross-sectoral analysis. 1
Providing accurate information for advocacy activities, including producing regular Fact Sheets. 1
Managing the Shelter Cluster database and website to ensure they are up-to-date. 1
Participating in relevant working groups facilitated by OCHA. 1
Performing any other tasks as required to achieve the objectives of the assignment.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A degree in Computer Science or a relevant field from a recognized university or college.
At least 3 years of experience in data management, analysis, and reporting.
Proficiency in website development using programming languages such as ASP.NET or C#.
Intermediate-level expertise in designing factsheets or reports.
Strong coordination and advocacy skills.
Significant understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts, with political and cultural awareness.
Knowledge of the context in Palestine and the local language (Arabic) is essential.
Reliability, organizational skills, and effective communication abilities are highly valued.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a degree in Computer Science or a related field from a recognized institution. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of data management and analysis required for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in data management, analysis, and reporting. Candidates should have a strong background in data visualization and website management, as well as experience in coordination and advocacy work within humanitarian contexts.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, with intermediate proficiency required for both written and verbal communication. Knowledge of Arabic is also essential, as it is the local language in Palestine and will be necessary for effective communication with stakeholders and the affected population.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 6 months, with working hours set at 38 hours per week from Sunday to Thursday. The salary and benefits will be based on NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions, specific to the Gaza duty station. The position is open only to residents of the Gaza Strip.
