Job Overview:

This position requires a proactive approach to managing security risks while supporting humanitarian efforts. The coordinator will analyze security situations, develop strategies for safe access, and implement security management frameworks. The role involves close collaboration with senior management and local partners to build capacity and transfer knowledge to field staff. The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining security documentation, conducting training, and overseeing emergency response efforts, all while adhering to humanitarian principles and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security and Access Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Analyzing security risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Supporting the implementation of the Security Management Framework at the area level.
  • Conducting Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) and developing Security Improvement Plans (SIPs).
  • Managing field movement requests and ensuring safe travel plans.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and availability of security equipment and resources.
  • Coordinating emergency responses and providing technical advice to management.
  • Delivering training and development plans for security staff.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to ensure principled humanitarian access.
  • Providing security briefings for staff and visitors. 1
  • Supporting the Area Director in operational planning and incident management. 1
  • Following up on violations of the organization's Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player. Essential qualifications include:

  • High emotional intelligence and a good sense of humor.
  • A solid understanding of security and access issues, particularly in relation to geopolitical developments.
  • Experience in multicultural work settings and critical incident management.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills, particularly in MS Office.

  • Full professional proficiency in English and fluency in Arabic.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is essential for this position. Candidates should ideally hold a degree in a field related to security management, international relations, or humanitarian studies. Additional certifications in security training or risk management would be advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development in this area.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of experience in a direct safety and access role, preferably within a non-governmental organization. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing security risks and implementing safety protocols in challenging environments. Experience in training and capacity building for local staff is also highly valued, as is familiarity with humanitarian operations and principles.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is mandatory for this position.
