Job Overview: The WASHAdvisor position is crucial for providing technical support for the development of WASH programs in Palestine. The advisor will work closely with SI teams to enhance the quality, efficiency, and relevance of the WASH response, ensuring alignment with SI's strategic goals. This role involves coordination with the WASH PM and Field Coordinators to develop WASH programming and fundraising efforts, including engaging with external stakeholders. The advisor will also represent SI in the WASH sector, ensuring strong coordination with national and field-level WASH forums, participating in clusters and technical working groups, and supporting the establishment of task forces to strengthen the overall WASH response in Gaza. The advisor will be responsible for providing technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including support on designs, BOQs, and implementation strategies, as well as delivering training to improve response quality. Monitoring interventions and conducting field visits will be essential to provide recommendations for program quality enhancement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The WASH Advisor will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including:
Providing technical support for WASH program development in Palestine, ensuring that SI teams improve the quality and relevance of their responses.
Coordinating and representing SI in the WASH sector, actively participating in national and field-level WASH forums and clusters.
Strengthening and providing technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including delivering training and monitoring interventions.
Supporting Field Coordinators and the Deputy Head of Programs in developing WASH programming and fundraising efforts.
Conducting field visits to assess needs and ensure technical quality in interventions.
Identifying training needs and supporting the enhancement of technical skills within the team.
Addressing challenges related to access limits, supply issues, and movement restrictions in the Gaza Strip, while adapting to the rapidly changing operational environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a University Master’s degree in a Water Sanitation and Hygiene-related sector, Engineering, Environment, or Geology. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and at least 5 years in a similar position. Technical skills in humanitarian coordination, WASH interventions, water treatment (particularly reverse osmosis), and water quality assessment are essential. Proficiency in reporting and the use of office software is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a University Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Engineering, Environment, or Geology. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of WASH interventions and the technical aspects of water treatment and quality management.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role focused on WASH programming. This experience should include direct involvement in humanitarian coordination, technical support for WASH interventions, and engagement with various stakeholders in the sector.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders in Palestine.

The role is based in Gaza, specifically in Deir-el-Balah, where Solidarités International maintains its office and guesthouse. The salary for this position starts from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and welfare systems, including war risks.
