Job Overview: The position involves providing technical support for the development of Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs in Palestine. The successful candidate will support SI teams in enhancing the quality, efficiency, and relevance of the WASH response, ensuring alignment with SI's strategic goals and coordination with the WASH Project Manager and Field Coordinators. The role also includes representing SI in the WASH sector, ensuring effective coordination with the WASH Forum at both national and field levels, and participating in relevant technical working groups. Additionally, the candidate will provide technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including support on designs, Bill of Quantities (BOQs), and implementation strategies, as well as conducting field visits and monitoring interventions to ensure program quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for WASH program development in Palestine, ensuring alignment with SI strategy and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Coordinate and represent SI in the WASH sector, actively participating in WASH clusters and technical working groups.
Strengthen and provide technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including delivering training and monitoring interventions.
Conduct field visits to assess needs and provide recommendations for program improvement.
Support the development of proposals and reports by reviewing technical sections.
Identify training needs and support the enhancement of technical skills within the team.
Address challenges related to access limits, supply issues, and movement restrictions in the Gaza Strip, ensuring effective coordination with partners and adapting to changing priorities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a University Master’s degree in a Water Sanitation and Hygiene-related sector, Engineering, Environment, or Geology. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and a minimum of 5 years in a similar position. Technical skills in humanitarian coordination, WASH interventions, water treatment (especially Reverse Osmosis), and water quality assessment are essential. Candidates should also have experience in designing and implementing training and technical guidelines.
Educational Background: A University Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Engineering, Environment, or Geology is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of WASH interventions and the technical aspects of water treatment and quality management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role focused on WASH programming. This experience should include working in challenging environments and coordinating with various stakeholders in the humanitarian field.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance collaboration with local partners and stakeholders.

The position is based in Gaza, specifically in Deir-el-Balah, where SI maintains its office and guesthouse. The salary for this position starts from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will also benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The working environment is described as stressful, with limited opportunities for relaxation, but living conditions have improved since the ceasefire in October 2025.
