Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director will oversee the overall mission in Palestine, which includes high-level representation, fundraising, program development, strategic planning, risk and access management, program quality, and administrative processes. This role requires a dynamic individual capable of managing both macro and micro issues simultaneously. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, including donors, government institutions, U.N. agencies, and other key stakeholders. Given the complex operational dynamics in Palestine, prior leadership experience in the region will be highly valued.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Director will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: overseeing project implementation to ensure programs are delivered on time and within budget; maintaining compliance and financial transparency; monitoring performance and integrating risk and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security considerations throughout program delivery; leading staff safety and security efforts by maintaining and updating security plans; ensuring compliance with safety protocols; liaising with global security teams; and promoting a strong culture of duty-of-care. Additionally, the Country Director will manage and support staff performance, recruitment, onboarding, and wellbeing, ensuring compliance with HR policies and local laws while fostering a healthy work environment. The role also involves tracking donor trends, identifying funding opportunities, building external partnerships, and coordinating closely with internal teams for program development and operations. The Country Director will act as the organization's representative with donors, governments, NGOs, and partners, managing the public image and leading in meetings and forums, as well as coordinating emergency responses and donor visits.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess significant leadership experience in directing emergency response programs in complex settings. A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Public Health, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related discipline is required, or equivalent senior-level experience. A solid background and knowledge of Institutional Donor Rules and Regulations is essential, along with established contacts with U.N. Agencies and other international emergency response and development actors. Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking, and strategic planning skills are necessary, as well as demonstrated skills in team management, including structure, conflict resolution, performance management, and communication. Candidates should also have the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently, possess excellent time management skills, and demonstrate resourcefulness with strong attention to detail.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Development, Public Health, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related discipline. Alternatively, equivalent senior-level experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and the environment in which the organization operates.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant leadership experience, particularly in directing the implementation of emergency response programs in complex settings. Previous experience working in Palestine is strongly preferred, as it provides valuable insights into the operational dynamics and challenges faced in the region. The ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks efficiently is also essential for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent speaking and writing skills required. Proficiency in Arabic is considered a bonus, as it can enhance communication and engagement with local stakeholders and communities. Strong language skills are crucial for effective representation and collaboration in the diverse contexts in which Relief International operates.

This is a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan, with frequent travel required.
