Job Overview:
The Emergency logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager – Gaza plays a crucial role in leading and coordinating logistics operations to support Humanity & Inclusion's emergency response and ongoing humanitarian programming in the Gaza Strip. This position is primarily based in Gaza but may require remote work from Amman due to access constraints arising from the volatile security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and political environment. The manager is responsible for ensuring the continuity of critical logistics functions, enhancing logistics capacity, and implementing contingency mechanisms tailored to the context. The role is vital for maintaining operational effectiveness and resilience in one of the most complex humanitarian environments globally, especially in light of the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, which has seen mass destruction, displacement, and a significant loss of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Emergency Logistics Manager's responsibilities include:
  • Team Management and Capacity Building: Supervising and supporting the Gaza-based logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism, providing capacity building and coaching, setting performance objectives, and ensuring regular evaluations.
  • Emergency Logistics Procedures and Implementation: Updating and implementing Gaza-specific emergency logistics procedures, leading contingency plans, collaborating with area managers to set up logistics infrastructure, and monitoring the humanitarian situation to adjust logistics planning.
  • Supply Chain Management for Gaza: Designing and overseeing the Gaza supply chain strategy, managing the full procurement cycle, ensuring coordination with procurement/logistics units, liaising with suppliers and authorities, and maintaining logistics documentation.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Leading logistics preparedness measures, conducting risk assessments, ensuring readiness for rapid activation, and representing logistics in emergency coordination.
  • Cross-Cutting Responsibilities: Ensuring compliance with logistics policies, maintaining documentation systems, providing monthly reporting, and ensuring accountability to affected populations through transparent logistics support.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in humanitarian logistics management and a minimum of 2 years in emergency responses in conflict-affected countries. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, along with good communication and negotiation skills in English, are essential. Proven capacity to manage complex supply chains and logistics operations in high-risk environments is required. Experience with remote team management and operating under access constraints is highly desirable, as is an in-depth understanding of donor procurement rules and humanitarian coordination mechanisms.

The salary starts at 2750€ gross per month, with additional per diem and hardship allowances depending on the work location.
