Job Overview: The position of Missions involves providing technical support for the development of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programs in Palestine. The selected candidate will support SI teams in enhancing the quality, efficiency, and relevance of the WASH response, ensuring alignment with SI's strategic objectives. This role requires coordination with the WASH PM and Field Coordinators to develop WASH programming and fundraising efforts, including engaging with external stakeholders. The candidate will also represent SI in the WASH sector, ensuring strong coordination with the WASH Forum at both national and field levels, and actively participating in WASH clusters and technical working groups. The position demands a proactive approach to strengthen and provide technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including delivering training and monitoring interventions to enhance program quality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main duties and responsibilities of the Missions position include:
Providing technical support for WASH program development in Palestine, ensuring that the quality and relevance of the WASH response align with SI's strategy.
Coordinating and representing SI in the WASH sector, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with the WASH Forum and other relevant platforms.
Strengthening and providing technical guidance to SI and partner WASH teams, including offering support on designs, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and implementation strategies.
Delivering technical WASH training for SI and partners to improve response quality.
Monitoring interventions through field visits and providing recommendations to enhance program quality.
Supporting field teams and the Deputy Head of Mission for Programs in developing and reviewing technical sections of proposals and reports.
Addressing challenges related to the unstable situation in the Gaza Strip, including access limits and supply problems, while adapting to changing priorities and operational restrictions.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Missions position include a University Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Engineering, Environment, or Geology. Additionally, candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and a minimum of 5 years in a similar position. Technical skills in humanitarian coordination, WASH interventions, water treatment (particularly Reverse Osmosis), and water quality assessment are essential. Candidates should also possess strong reporting skills and proficiency in using office software.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a University Master’s degree in a field related to Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Engineering, Environment, or Geology. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the WASH sector and effectively contributing to program development and implementation.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role focused on WASH programs. This experience should include working in challenging environments and coordinating with various stakeholders in the humanitarian field.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders in Palestine.

The position is based in Gaza, specifically in Deir-el-Balah, where SI maintains its office and guesthouse. The salary for this role starts from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Gaza have improved since the ceasefire, but the working environment remains challenging due to ongoing security concerns.
