Job Overview: The Deputy Representative Operations at UNICEF Brazil plays a crucial role in supporting the Representative in managing the office and ensuring the effective use of UNICEF assets. This position is integral to the Country Management Team and involves strategic planning and management processes, including the preparation of Annual Management Plans. The Deputy Representative Operations will ensure efficient operations across various functional areas such as budget management, financial reporting, facilities management, and logistics. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration across different programs and offices to enhance program delivery and achieve better results for children. The Deputy Representative will also be involved in advising on engagement in UN efficiency reforms and ensuring compliance with operational systems and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage operations support functions including budget, financial management, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics management, information technology, and safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
Ensure all operational reporting requirements are met and monitor compliance with operational systems.
Provide leadership in strategic planning and management processes, contributing to Annual Management Plans and guiding internal processes.
Act as a member of the Country and Senior Management Teams, providing feedback on risks and achievements in operations.
Champion UNICEF's participation in the Brazil UNCT Operations Management Team and advise on engagement in UN efficiency reforms.
Provide quality advice to Programme, Field, and PSFR operations, promoting efficiency across systems.
Monitor and analyze the operating environment to manage risks and ensure business continuity.
Anticipate challenges and propose creative solutions aimed at value for money.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance, or related fields, or a full professional accounting designation from a recognized institute.
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in operations management, including budget, financial management, and logistics.
Experience in private sector fundraising and humanitarian settings is strongly desired.
Proven experience in managing client-oriented work units and co-creating policy is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in relevant fields such as Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance, or related operations functions. Alternatively, a full professional accounting designation from an internationally recognized body is acceptable.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 10 years of professional experience at both national and international levels, specifically in operations management areas such as budget, financial management, and logistics. Experience in the development sector, particularly with UN systems or international NGOs, is an asset. Prior experience in strategic and managerial leadership is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, or other Romance languages is highly desirable, with a commitment to achieve fluency in Portuguese if not already acquired.
