Job Overview:
The Director, Strategic Investor Relations will play a pivotal role in enhancing IFC's engagement with institutional investors, which is crucial for the organization's operational and financial model. This position is designed to deepen long-term relationships with investors, expand IFC's investor base, and align investor mandates with IFC's mobilization priorities. The Director will lead the global investor engagement strategy, ensuring that IFC is recognized as a partner of choice for institutional investors. This role involves integrating investor intelligence into decision-making processes and establishing robust systems for investor relationship management. The Director will also be a key member of the senior team responsible for embedding the originate-to-distribute (OtD) business model into IFC's operations, thereby enhancing the organization's ability to attract long-term institutional investments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the global investor relations coverage model and manage investor relationships in collaboration with product, regional, and transaction teams.
  • Design a tiered global investor coverage framework, segmenting investors based on strategic importance and mobilization potential.
  • Serve as the senior relationship manager for significant institutional investors, cultivating long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Coordinate with regional teams to ensure consistent and high-quality investor engagement.
  • Develop and execute customized engagement plans for priority investors, including strategic dialogues and co-investment opportunities.
  • Contribute to the integration of the OtD business model into IFC's operations.
  • Direct market mapping to identify prospective investors aligned with IFC's capital mobilization strategy.
  • Oversee outreach initiatives and investor education programs to broaden IFC's investor base.
  • Represent IFC at major global investor conferences and industry forums. 1
  • Strengthen the linkage between investor engagement and capital mobilization outcomes. 1
  • Monitor global capital market trends and benchmark IFC's practices against peers. 1
  • Oversee investor communications and marketing materials. 1
  • Ensure compliance with governance and ethical standards in investor engagement activities. 1
  • Provide strategic leadership for the use of Salesforce as the investor relationship management platform. 1
  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to corporate initiatives. 1
  • Manage the Strategic Investor Relationship Management team and budget effectively.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
  • At least 20 years of relevant professional experience in institutional investor engagement, capital markets, or development finance.
  • Extensive expertise in mobilizing private capital through syndications, co-investments, or structured finance.
  • Strong credibility with senior institutional investors and ability to align their mandates with IFC's priorities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills in complex environments, with a focus on building high-performing teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Excellent business judgment and analytical capabilities, with the ability to make decisions under uncertainty.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in additional languages being a plus.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the values of integrity, diversity, inclusion, and accountability.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, economics, or a related field. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of capital markets and institutional investor engagement.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 20 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in areas such as institutional investor engagement, capital markets, asset management, and development finance. Candidates should have a proven track record of mobilizing private capital at scale and should be familiar with syndications, co-investments, and structured finance.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred and can enhance communication with a diverse range of institutional investors.
