Job Overview:
The ET Consultant (Wide Area Network Engineer) position at the World Bank Group is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the organization's mission of alleviating poverty and enhancing shared prosperity through the effective use of technology. This role is situated within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit, which plays a crucial role in delivering transformative information and technologies to staff across more than 150 locations. The consultant will be responsible for managing the product lifecycle of the wide area network infrastructure, ensuring operational availability, and implementing global network projects. This includes device configuration, deployment, link acceptance testing, and troubleshooting network events. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and compliance, as well as the ability to create automated reports and alerts for network events. The consultant will also handle escalation calls from the Network Operations Center (NOC), perform triage, and resolve problems, ensuring continuous monitoring and maintenance of network equipment and peripherals. The role is integral to supporting the World Bank Group's digital transformation agenda and enhancing the productivity and efficiency of IT operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ET Consultant (Wide Area Network Engineer) include:
  • Managing the product lifecycle of the wide area network infrastructure to ensure operational availability and designing changes for implementation.
  • Implementing global network projects, which encompass device configuration, deployment, link acceptance testing, and troubleshooting of network events.
  • Enhancing the team's proactive monitoring capability and compliance by creating automated reports and alerts for network events using tools like Splunk and OpenText Network Automation.
  • Handling escalation calls from the NOC, performing triage, and resolving problems effectively.
  • Providing continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various network equipment and associated peripherals, ensuring adequate follow-up on problem resolution tracking using the ServiceNow tool.
  • Following and complying with World Bank Group policies, processes, and procedures to maintain operational integrity and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the ET Consultant position include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in network engineering or a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco operating systems (IOSXE) and hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches.
  • Familiarity with Meraki dashboard, Riverbed SteelCentral, and OpenText Network Automation.
  • A good understanding of networking protocols and services, including TCP/IP, IPSec, GRE, VRF, OSPF, BGP, STP, QoS, and policy-based routing.
  • Hands-on experience with 802.1x in a large-scale enterprise network, as well as MPLS, VSAT, and VPN, including testing and provisioning of links.
  • Proficiency in using packet capture tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump, with the ability to analyze captured data.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the ET Consultant position must possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
