Job Overview:
The Research Analyst I position at IFPRI is a critical role within the Development Strategy and Governance Unit, where the selected candidate will engage in comprehensive research support for quantitative studies. The analyst will delve into various topics, including agricultural productivity, market and value chain development, migration, and the interplay between agriculture and nutrition. The role involves cleaning and statistically analyzing large datasets, preparing visual representations of findings, and writing reports. Additionally, the analyst will conduct training sessions on survey design and data analysis, manage datasets, and present research findings. This position offers the opportunity to co-author research papers and reports, contributing to the broader mission of IFPRI in addressing global food security challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the Research Analyst I include a variety of tasks that are crucial for the success of research projects. Specific responsibilities encompass data cleaning and maintenance, data collection, and analysis using STATA. The analyst will assist in econometric analysis, conduct literature reviews, and synthesize research findings. Drafting and editing research papers, blogs, policy briefs, and presentations are also key components of the role. The analyst will participate in knowledge exchanges and stay updated on relevant literature, policies, and best practices in agriculture, markets, economic development, and poverty reduction. Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, or closely related fields, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is acceptable. Proficiency in data management, processing, and analysis using STATA is essential, as is familiarity with major identification strategies in econometrics. The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision is crucial. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required, along with a strong willingness to learn and self-teach new technical skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct literature reviews, synthesize findings, and draft policy briefs and research papers. Experience in preparing research presentations and strong interpersonal skills for a team-oriented, multicultural environment are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Research Analyst I position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, or a closely related field. The expected salary range for this position is between $55,600 and $69,500, depending on experience and other job-related factors. IFPRI provides a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance coverage, which is available to active, non-temporary, full-time, and part-time US-based employees who work at least 25 hours per week.
