Job Overview:
The IT Strategist/Sr. IT Strategist position within the IMF's Information Technology Department (ITD) is crucial for enhancing the coherence, consistency, and sustainability of the Fund's technology landscape. This role is primarily focused on infrastructure architecture and Application Portfolio Management (APM), integrating modern enterprise architecture practices such as cloud-native modernization and AI-enabled development. The strategist will play a pivotal role in aligning technology initiatives with the Business Technology Strategy (BTS), contributing to modernization efforts, and addressing technical debt across the portfolio. The position emphasizes the importance of Agentic AI as a key architectural focus area, alongside cloud, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and integration, ensuring responsible adoption within established governance frameworks. The strategist will engage in architectural discussions, support enterprise architecture governance, and contribute to the development of architectural standards and principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enterprise Architecture & Portfolio Support: Develop and maintain enterprise architecture roadmaps across infrastructure, applications, integration, and data, coordinating with ITD teams. Define and document target-state architectures, including cloud services and hybrid platforms. Support Application Portfolio Management activities, focusing on application inventory and technology lifecycle analysis. Participate in discussions regarding modernization from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures. Contribute to application rationalization aimed at reducing technical debt.
  • Architecture Governance & Standards Support: Participate in governance forums and contribute to the documentation of architectural principles and technology standards. Support Architecture Review Board processes through preparation of materials and architectural analysis. Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts such as capability models and data models. Encourage the reuse of approved patterns across projects and assist in reviewing technology proposals. Collaborate with Cybersecurity teams to align with Zero Trust principles.
  • AI & Agentic Architecture Analysis: Work with the AI Division to support architectural guardrails for AI-assisted development. Analyze and document architectural considerations for Agentic AI, including ethical AI principles and risk considerations. Support the documentation of architectural patterns for multi-agent systems and assist in evaluating emerging AI tools from an architectural perspective.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience is acceptable. Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, cloud architecture, or security are preferred, or candidates should be willing to pursue them. Experience with enterprise architecture or portfolio management tools, particularly ServiceNow EA Workspace, is also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field. A bachelor's degree in a related field is acceptable if accompanied by significant professional experience. Candidates are encouraged to pursue relevant certifications to enhance their qualifications further.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have several years of experience in architecture, engineering, or related IT roles, with a strong background in infrastructure architecture, application portfolio management, cloud-native design, and enterprise integration approaches. Familiarity with security architecture fundamentals and data governance is also essential. Candidates should demonstrate experience in automation, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the IMF. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly for roles that involve international collaboration or communication with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified at levels A11 and A12, indicating a seniority level that requires significant expertise and experience. The selected candidate will maintain their open-ended status if they are a regular staff member. If the candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment.
