Job Overview: The Governance Analyst position is integral to the World Bank's efforts in supporting governance-related activities and Board operations for the Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). This role is designed to assist the Program Manager for Board Affairs and Governance in the design, implementation, and coordination of governance-related activities. The Governance Analyst will engage in substantive governance support, which includes preparing governance documentation, facilitating Board meetings, and ensuring follow-up on key actions and deliverables. The position requires a blend of governance expertise and operational support, focusing on participant administration, travel logistics, meeting preparations, and document management. The Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring that the governance processes are efficient and effective, contributing to the overall success of the Fund's operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Governance Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Secretariat's Board Affairs and Governance Program Manager. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the planning and coordination of Board meetings, including preparation of agendas, presentations, and meeting materials.
Providing active support during governance discussions by tracking key issues and decisions, and ensuring timely follow-up on action points.
Managing the preparation, circulation, and filing of Board papers and governance-related documentation.
Maintaining document management systems for governance decisions and meeting records.
Compiling and updating governance-related tracking tools to support compliance and reporting.
Assisting in onboarding and capacity development sessions for Board members and advisers.
Drafting briefing materials and internal memos to support senior leadership in engagements.
Reviewing governance documents such as operational procedures and compliance guidelines.
Performing other governance-related tasks as assigned by the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director or Governance Lead.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, along with at least 2 years of experience in governance, international development, climate finance, or public administration. Familiarity with multilateral governance bodies and international conference logistics is desirable. Strong analytical and writing skills are essential, as well as knowledge of operational logistics within the World Bank environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be complemented by coursework or training in governance, international development, climate finance, or public administration, which will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and practical insights for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in governance, international development, climate finance, or operations support. Experience within a multilateral, UN, or development institution context is preferred. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in environments that require strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex governance structures.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. While no additional languages are specified as preferred, knowledge of other languages could be beneficial in engaging with diverse stakeholders and enhancing communication within the international context of the World Bank's operations.
Additional Notes: This position is a local recruitment role with a term duration of 2 years. The Governance Analyst will be expected to undertake frequent travel as required.
