Job Overview:
The National Expert on Institutional Policy Support for Nutrition will play a crucial role in the FAO's project aimed at improving the institutional framework for school nutrition in Kyrgyzstan. This position involves conducting a comprehensive qualitative review of the current school nutrition system, identifying policy gaps, and updating existing regulations and guidelines to align with international standards and EAEU technical regulations. The expert will work closely with national project coordinators and stakeholders to facilitate consultations, workshops, and discussions that will inform the development of updated policies. The role requires a deep understanding of food safety, agricultural practices, and the regulatory landscape surrounding school nutrition, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Expert will be responsible for a range of tasks, including: conducting a qualitative review of the existing institutional framework for school nutrition; providing technical support for consultation meetings and workshops to analyze policy gaps; drafting updated versions of key regulatory documents related to school nutrition; preparing materials and recommendations for stakeholder workshops; finalizing drafts based on stakeholder feedback; and performing any additional tasks as required by the project. The expert will also be expected to document key points and feedback from consultations and ensure that all activities align with the project's goals of improving the quality and safety of school nutrition in Kyrgyzstan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in agriculture, food production, food catering and processing technology, food control and food safety, food chain management, law and economics, or a related field. A Master's or PhD degree is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in policy analysis, regulations, guidelines, and recommendations in the fields of food production, school nutrition, and food safety management systems. Experience working with EAEU technical regulations and international practices is also essential. Candidates must be nationals of the Kyrgyz Republic or residents with a valid work permit.

Educational Background:
The position requires a university degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, food production, food safety, or law. Advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) are preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in food safety and nutrition policy.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in areas related to policy analysis, food safety, and nutrition management. This experience should include working with governmental authorities and institutions, as well as familiarity with international standards and regulations in the food sector. Experience in conducting qualitative reviews and facilitating stakeholder consultations is also highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in Russian and Kyrgyz is mandatory for this position, as these languages are essential for effective communication with local stakeholders. Knowledge of English is considered a plus, as it may facilitate communication with international experts and resources.
