Job Overview: The Project Manager role is a critical position within the 'Saving Lives Together' project, aimed at improving food and nutritional security and resilience among vulnerable populations in Haiti's West Department. The Project Manager will provide leadership and strategic vision for the project, overseeing its implementation across multiple components including cash transfers, WASH, food security, nutrition, and protection. This role requires a participatory approach to project management, ensuring that the needs of the community are met while adhering to Mercy Corps' principles and strategic objectives. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing staff, resources, and partnerships, ensuring that project objectives are met on time and within budget. Additionally, the Project Manager will develop a robust monitoring and evaluation system to assess project impact and learning, and represent the project to various stakeholders, including consortium partners and government authorities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the project, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement. Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing project strategies that align with community needs and Mercy Corps' mission.
Ensuring timely and high-quality project implementation, adhering to budgetary constraints and objectives.
Preparing comprehensive reports in collaboration with monitoring, evaluation, and finance teams.
Establishing systems for quality monitoring and adaptive management.
Ensuring compliance with donor regulations and internal policies.
Representing Mercy Corps at relevant events and coordinating with partners and local authorities.
Engaging in risk management and safeguarding practices to protect beneficiaries and team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in relevant fields such as medicine, economics, international development, or project management. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in program/project management is required, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in Haiti. Proven expertise in nutrition, cash transfer programs, and emergency response is essential. Candidates should also have experience in resilience approaches and integrating market-based strategies into emergency programs. Strong communication skills in both French and English are necessary, along with the ability to manage diverse teams and build relationships with stakeholders.
Educational Background: A Master's degree (MA/S) or equivalent qualification in fields such as medicine, economics, international development, international relations, project management, or agricultural economics is strongly preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in project or program management will be favored, especially those committed to obtaining such qualifications shortly after employment.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in program/project management, with a strong emphasis on emergency projects and sectors such as cash transfers, WASH, food security, protection, and nutrition. Experience working in Haiti is highly desirable, as is proven experience in nutrition and resilience-building approaches.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, while proficiency in English is highly desirable. Candidates with strong communication skills in both languages will be preferred, as effective communication is crucial for collaboration and reporting.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time, regular position based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The role includes housing provisions and is eligible for hardship and R&R benefits. The living conditions in Haiti can be challenging due to high unemployment, food insecurity, and health issues, but the country also offers beautiful landscapes and cultural experiences.
