Job Overview:
The Research Associate position at CHAI is designed for a highly motivated individual with a background in public health and strong analytical skills. The role involves collaborating with global, regional, and country teams, as well as government counterparts, to assess, design, and scale-up malaria and dengue surveillance systems. The successful candidate will conduct epidemiological and spatial data analysis, monitor and evaluate malaria reduction efforts, and assess novel dengue interventions, including the deployment of Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and drive implementation. The Research Associate will be based in Cambodia and may require travel up to 30%.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Research Associate include providing direct support to surveillance and analytics workstreams, conducting high-quality epidemiological analyses to evaluate current interventions, and understanding disease patterns to inform strategic planning related to malaria and dengue. The individual will perform scientific literature reviews, monitor and improve surveillance processes, and contribute to the formulation of guidelines and training materials. They will also support the evaluation of dengue control strategies, design and implement evaluations of program effectiveness, and organize and integrate datasets for program monitoring. Additionally, the Research Associate will develop technical training materials, institutionalize data reviews, provide technical supervision and support to staff, synthesize findings for presentations and publications, and represent CHAI at external meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field, or have equivalent experience. A minimum of 2 years of work experience related to the responsibilities outlined is required. Knowledge of malaria and dengue epidemiology, including surveillance and evaluation of vector control interventions, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for applying research methods to global health problems and have experience working with diverse datasets. Proficiency in statistical software (R, STATA) and mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS) is necessary, along with high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience in communicating with government officials and multilateral organizations is also required, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural settings.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may also be considered. Candidates should have a strong foundation in public health principles and practices, particularly as they relate to infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience, particularly in public health, epidemiology, or related fields. Candidates should have experience in conducting and analyzing epidemiological surveys, evaluating disease surveillance systems, and working with government officials and external partners. Experience in resource-limited settings, especially in Asia, is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages such as Burmese, Khmer, Lao, and Vietnamese is considered an advantage, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
