Job Overview: The Senior Facilities Officer position within the Corporate Services & Facilities Department (CSF) is a pivotal role that involves managing capital projects from inception to completion in large, occupied institutional environments. Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Facilities Officer will manage a portfolio of capital, renovation, and workplace projects, overseeing all phases from feasibility and programming to design, construction, and closeout. Key responsibilities include developing and managing project scopes, work plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with approved baselines. The officer will serve as the owner’s representative, ensuring that project objectives and quality standards are consistently met. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a relevant advanced university degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields, along with a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in delivering facilities-related design and construction projects. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least ten years of relevant experience is acceptable. Demonstrated experience in managing complex renovation projects in occupied environments is essential. Strong working knowledge of DC/MD/VA building codes, permitting processes, and construction practices is required, along with proven experience across all project phases. Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, and Excel is necessary, and familiarity with BIM and smart building technologies is preferred. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is also preferred.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
