Job Overview: The Project Manager for the Women’s Resilience, Empowerment, Access, Capacities and Human Rights (Women’s R.E.A.C.H. Project) will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of the project aimed at addressing the needs of gender-based violence (GBV) survivors and at-risk women. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including the project and operations team at the Country Office, the Regional Office, UN Women HQ, and other partners to ensure effective project execution. The Project Manager will lead the development of annual work plans, manage project activities, and ensure compliance with UN Women policies and donor requirements. The position requires a strong focus on building partnerships, resource mobilization, and knowledge sharing to enhance the project's impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the Women’s R.E.A.C.H Project by planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring the annual workplan and partner workplans, ensuring effective resource use and compliance with UN Women and donor requirements.
Manage project activities through effective monitoring and reporting, preparing progress reports, and leading field missions.
Oversee the project’s budget and financial resources, ensuring adherence to donor requirements and UN Women procedures, while supervising and mentoring project staff.
Support the development of partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, analyzing donor opportunities and preparing briefs for potential cooperation.
Manage knowledge building and sharing, developing strategies for disseminating best practices and lessons learned, and contributing to communication plans.
Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills, including formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as budget and finance management skills. Knowledge of gender equality and women's empowerment is essential, along with the ability to synthesize program performance data and produce analytical reports.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project management certification is also beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project management at the national and/or international level, including project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting. Experience in establishing inter-relationships among organizations, leading and coaching staff in international settings, and familiarity with gender and human rights issues is required. Professional experience in Myanmar and/or the Asia and Pacific Region is desirable, along with proficiency in office software and web-based management systems.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Myanmar language is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable, enhancing communication capabilities within the organization and with stakeholders.
