Job Overview: The Driver position at UN Women involves providing reliable and safe driving services to the Programme and Operations staff, as well as visitors. The role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, along with an excellent understanding of protocol and security issues. The Driver will report to the Executive Associate and may also be tasked with providing driving services to consultants, experts, and UN staff on mission. In addition to driving, the Driver will be responsible for basic administrative and clerical support to the UN Women Country Office, ensuring that all driving-related tasks are performed efficiently and safely. This includes maintaining the vehicle, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and assisting with logistical support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Driver's duties include providing reliable and secure driving services for the transport of authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, and ensuring that all passengers wear seatbelts. The Driver must adhere to UN Women’s vehicle management policies and ensure that the vehicle complies with security and safety standards. Daily responsibilities also include maintaining vehicle logs, ensuring the vehicle is clean and in good working condition, making minor repairs, and arranging for major repairs when necessary. The Driver is also responsible for maintaining all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, assisting office staff with administrative tasks, and performing other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent driving skills, a good knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and local road conditions. Defensive driving skills and the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs are also essential. The Driver should demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, and the ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds. A valid driver’s license is mandatory, and candidates must have a safe driving record.
Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required for this position. Candidates must also hold a valid driver’s license to be eligible for the role.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system is required. Candidates should have a proven safe driving record and experience in providing driving services in a professional environment.
Languages: Fluency in French is required, along with a working knowledge of English. Additionally, fluency in local languages is considered an asset for this position.
