Job Overview:
The Field Security Associate position is designed to assist in the implementation of security operations and management of safety and security for UN personnel in Gaza. The role involves working under the guidance of the Area Security Adviser (ASA) and direct supervision of Field Security Coordination Officers (FSCOs). The associate will be responsible for collecting and communicating information regarding the security situation, providing field support for convoy movements, managing the UNDSS fleet, maintaining the Security Plan, conducting security evaluations, and providing general administrative assistance. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to peace and security efforts while gaining valuable experience in security risk management within a dynamic and diverse organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Assist the Area Security Adviser (ASA) and Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) in gathering, updating, and communicating security information. This includes liaising with host government security organizations, assessing the security situation, and providing security advice to UN agencies. 2) Provide field support for Mission Security Commanders in planning and implementing convoy movements in Gaza, conducting route assessments, and ensuring security equipment readiness. 3) Manage the UNDSS fleet and drivers, ensuring proper scheduling and resource allocation. 4) Assist in maintaining the Security Plan, updating staff lists, and monitoring compliance with security measures. 5) Conduct security evaluations and provide advice on residential security measures and trends affecting staff safety. 6) Provide general administrative support to the ASA/FSCO, including maintaining correspondence files, arranging appointments, and managing communication. The role requires flexibility, as it involves working on a rotational shift basis, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess secondary education as a minimum requirement. A first-level university degree in fields such as Business Administration, Political Science, Management, or Security Management is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant work experience is crucial, with a minimum of 6 years required for candidates with a high school diploma, or 3 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Essential skills include proficiency in computer-based tools, particularly the MS Office suite, and possession of a valid driver's license (class C). Prior experience within the UN system or international organizations is desirable, along with skills in emergency operations, risk assessment, and clear communication in complex situations.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least secondary education. While a first-level university degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Political Science, Management, or Security Management is advantageous, it is not a strict requirement. Candidates with a strong educational foundation in these areas will be given due consideration, particularly if they also possess relevant work experience in the humanitarian or security sectors.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience for candidates with a high school diploma, or 3 years for those with a bachelor's degree. Experience in the humanitarian sector, program management, security, disaster response, or similar fields is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in security risk management, emergency operations, and the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats. Experience in reporting on complex situations and familiarity with local geography will be considered assets.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in these languages to fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not explicitly required.
