Job Overview:
The IT Department (ITD) of the IMF is offering multiple internship opportunities for graduate students who are currently enrolled in a master’s degree program in information technology or a related field. This internship is a full-time, paid position based at the IMF headquarters in Washington DC, lasting for a period of 3 months from June to August 202
  • The intern will be involved in a project focused on enterprise search technologies with generative AI capabilities. The role will require conducting research, developing proofs of concept, and comparing GenAI-driven search solutions to recommend effective strategies for enterprise search. The intern will also contribute to the Search project team, which is responsible for ongoing search performance tuning and optimization, incorporating user feedback for enhancements. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-impact environment, working on critical digital communication tools that serve millions of users annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of generative AI capabilities in enterprise search platforms, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and relevance intelligence. They will develop functional proofs-of-concept using platform services, APIs, and SDKs from leading technologies. The intern will also evaluate options by documenting the advantages and disadvantages of each platform, focusing on the quality of GenAI search results, performance, scalability, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and ease of integration. Additionally, the intern will maintain ongoing documentation of key learnings, challenges, successes, and findings throughout the internship, regularly updating and reviewing this living document to capture project insights.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for the IT internship, candidates must be enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a relevant field such as information technology, computer science, information systems management, data science, or business administration. Candidates must maintain student status during the internship and be in good academic standing. An excellent command of English, both written and oral, is required, along with a demonstrated interest in working in a multicultural environment. Candidates should possess a strong background in computer science, AI, or a related field, with a basic understanding of Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform services. Knowledge of search technology and prior experience with commercial search products are preferred. Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, are essential. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is also important.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in a relevant field such as information technology, computer science, information systems management, data science, or business administration. They must also provide a recent transcript from their university program showing their current status and recent grades as part of their application.

Experience:
