Job Overview: The Communications Assistant position within the Office of the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) is crucial for supporting the communication and outreach activities that enhance the accountability and performance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of content for various digital and social media channels, supporting event logistics, maintaining communications databases, and collaborating with teams across CAO. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about communication and have a keen interest in international development, as they will be contributing to the CAO's mission of facilitating the resolution of complaints and enhancing environmental and social project outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and drafting content for various platforms, creating visual materials such as infographics and brochures on CAO processes, contributing to internal and external newsletters, posting content on CAO’s website and social media, coordinating the production of news clippings, providing logistical support for external meetings and events, maintaining communications databases and listservs, reorganizing and maintaining CAO’s photo library and archives, supporting CAO case data tracking and disclosure activities, and liaising with vendors such as designers, editors, printers, and photographers as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, or a related field in international development, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience. They should demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills suitable for both technical and general audiences, proven skills in website editing and social media management, and experience with tools like Drupal and Hootsuite. Additionally, candidates should have experience in creating and editing content using design tools such as Canva and Microsoft Office, possess strong organizational and administrative skills, and be able to multitask and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines. Being a team player who can adjust to support quality communications outputs is essential, and the ability to work in languages other than English is considered an asset.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of communication within the context of international development and public affairs.
Experience: The position requires 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications or public affairs. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to create and manage content across various platforms, as well as experience in event logistics and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in a team environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. While proficiency in additional languages is not required, it is considered an asset that may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders and contribute to the organization's mission.
Additional Notes: This position is a local recruitment opportunity and is expected to last for a term duration of 1 year. Preference will be given to local talent, meaning applicants must be authorized to work in the duty station for any employer.
