Job Overview:
The SOC Assistant plays a crucial role in the United Nations Department of Safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (UNDSS), specifically within the Remote Security Operations Centre (RSOC). This position is responsible for minimizing risks associated with UN operations in hazardous areas and implementing Security Risk Management Measures (SRMM). The SOC Assistant will work under the supervision of the Chief Security Adviser or Deputy Security Adviser and will be involved in coordinating the daily operations of the SOC, ensuring effective communication and information sharing, and managing security-related incidents. The role requires regular travel to various SOC locations throughout Sudan, highlighting the dynamic nature of the position and the need for adaptability and quick response in emergencies. The SOC Assistant is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism and efficiency in all operations, contributing to the overall safety and security of UN personnel and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the work of the SOC Assistants, ensuring effective coverage and training.
  • Supervise daily operations of the SOC, including managing radio communications and logging messages.
  • Ensure information-sharing with external security services and respond promptly to security incidents.
  • Manage information systems, maintaining accurate contact details and documentation.
  • Monitor the Security Communication System and provide technical support as needed.
  • Train UN’s implementing partners and perform other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the Office and Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Secondary education is required, with a university degree in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, or a relevant field being advantageous. Applicable security, police, or military training is desirable. Candidates should possess knowledge of international radio procedures and experience in supervising teams and training individuals. Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications, are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have at least secondary education, with a preference for those holding a bachelor's or master's degree in relevant fields. Additional training in security, police, or military operations is considered beneficial.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in radio room/SOC operations is required for candidates with secondary education, while those with a bachelor's degree need at least 2 years of relevant experience. Experience in supervising teams and training is also necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, ensuring effective communication within the diverse operational environment of the UN.
