Job Overview: The UN Volunteer position is situated within the Data, Identity Management and Analysis (DIMA) unit, which plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of UNHCR through effective registration, data management, and information projects. The volunteer will collaborate with various stakeholders, including senior management, technical staff, UN agencies, government actors, and NGO representatives, to ensure the smooth operation of data management processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including executing general operational data management of the national data ecosystem and UNHCR's registration and identity management systems. They will manage UNHCR Brazil's data in the Raw Internal Data Library, ensuring adherence to data storage and curation principles. The volunteer will also be responsible for the storage and processing of administrative records, registration data, surveys, and other secondary data, ensuring timely and accurate data availability for analytical and operational use. Additionally, they will design, develop, and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and data pipelines, promote innovative solutions to improve data processes, and maintain reporting platforms for monitoring results indicators. Training UNHCR staff and implementing partners in data management will also be part of their duties, along with supporting registration activities and providing technical support as needed. The role demands strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while managing time effectively to meet deadlines.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong technical background in data management and analysis, with experience in managing data from various sources. They should demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as the volunteer will need to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in data management and analysis, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in Brasília, Brazil, which is classified as a family duty station. The volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position is part of the malicious insurance plan for national UN Volunteers. The living conditions in Brasília are generally good, with access to health services and a variety of accommodation options.
