Job Overview: As the Chief of Party I for the PMI REACH Malaria project, you will be responsible for providing leadership and overall management of this US Government-funded initiative aimed at delivering comprehensive malaria services in Sierra Leone. The REACH project focuses on implementation support and technical assistance to enhance the delivery of malaria services, including case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy, community health initiatives, and data collection for service delivery. You will coordinate with various stakeholders, including USG Mission(s), international partners, and government officials, to ensure the project meets its objectives and adheres to quality standards. Duties and Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will include serving as the main liaison with USG Mission(s) and other partners, coordinating project implementation according to contract expectations, ensuring program quality standards are met, and managing financial oversight of project activities. You will lead a team of senior programming and operations staff, providing coaching and mentoring, and developing individual development plans. Risk management will be a key focus, as you monitor national and regional issues that may impact staff and programming. You will also be responsible for developing technical documents, communication strategies, and ensuring compliance with donor branding requirements. Additionally, you will document activities for program reports and create presentations for stakeholder meetings. Your role will require you to engage with various stakeholders, including ministries of health and civil society organizations, to ensure effective implementation of malaria interventions.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must possess a Master’s degree and have at least eight years of work experience in public health, international development, or a related field. You should have substantial experience managing multi-million-dollar health programs in developing countries, particularly with a focus on malaria. A minimum of five years of experience as a Chief of Party for USG awards is required, along with strong knowledge of budget management. You should demonstrate the ability to lead technical teams and manage complex programs involving multiple stakeholders. Familiarity with malaria service delivery and a proven track record of successful program management are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and budget management systems is also required.
