Job Overview:
The Driver position is integral to the UNDP Bangladesh’s Democratic Governance and Institutional Programming (DGIP) portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for providing transport services and vehicle management for authorized personnel, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic regulations. The role also includes supporting office operations by assisting with the transportation of documents and materials, operating office equipment, and maintaining vehicle logs and documentation. The Driver will be expected to contribute to the efficient functioning of the office and support emergency responses when necessary. This position is crucial for facilitating the implementation of projects aimed at supporting urban poor communities and enhancing urban resilience in Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will have specific duties and responsibilities that include: A. Transport service and vehicle management:
  • Drive office vehicles to transport authorized personnel according to official instructions and traffic rules.
  • Ensure the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of passengers and the vehicle during field missions or critical situations.
  • Deliver and collect official documents, packages, and mail to/from various offices and ministries.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks, servicing information, and movement registers daily.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle, ensuring cleanliness and optimal fuel consumption.
  • Oversee regular servicing and maintenance of vehicles, keeping all documentation updated.
  • Maintain essential items in the vehicle, including maps and first aid kits. B. Office Support:
  • Assist with carrying files and communication materials between offices.
  • Operate office equipment as assigned by project management.
  • Help with the packing, labeling, and distribution of project materials.
  • Prepare and distribute materials for meetings and events.
  • Follow management instructions regarding vehicle use and related duties.
  • Be prepared to support emergency evacuations or critical incident responses. The incumbent may also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a secondary education level with a valid driver’s license. A minimum of 2 years of work experience as a driver with a safe driving record is essential. Candidates should possess Defensive Driving Training (DDT) certification. Desired skills include experience in vehicle management and maintenance, knowledge of driving rules and regulations in Bangladesh, and basic knowledge of motor machines. Experience in minor repairs related to vehicle breakdowns during trips is advantageous, as is familiarity with GPS navigation systems and modern vehicle technologies. Experience in the development or public sector is also considered a plus.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education and possess a valid driver’s license. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties associated with the position effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a driver, demonstrating a safe driving record. This level of experience is crucial to ensure that the candidate is familiar with the responsibilities and challenges associated with driving in various conditions, particularly in urban settings.

Languages:
