Job Overview:
The WASH Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation and management of Water, Sanitation, and Heating (WASH) programs under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Senior Programme Coordinator. This position requires a proactive approach to coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of WASH projects, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying gaps in WASH implementation, developing work plans, and coordinating data collection and analysis to support project visibility and reporting. The role also involves liaising with various stakeholders, including donors, UN agencies, and local authorities, to enhance collaboration and ensure effective project delivery. The WASH Project Coordinator will contribute to capacity-building initiatives and participate in relevant coordination platforms, making this position integral to the success of WASH interventions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and monitor the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of WASH project interventions in accordance with IOM policies and standards.
  • Keep the supervisor informed on WASH implementation status; identify WASH-specific gaps and suggest actions to improve implementation of WASH infrastructure rehabilitation interventions.
  • Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation tools, and standard operations procedures tailored to WASH activities.
  • Coordinate the collection, verification, and analysis of WASH data and background information; update information management systems and support the communications team to prepare WASH visibility content.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of WASH project reports including implementation progress and lessons learned.
  • Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, UN agencies, and local authorities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of capacity-building activities on WASH topics.
  • Attend relevant WASH coordination platforms such as conferences and workshops.
  • Participate in the preparation of WASH proposals and communication products. 1
  • Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to WASH project staff. 1
  • Undertake duty travel to WASH sites for implementation and monitoring visits. 1
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Public Health, or other related technical disciplines. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred. Additionally, certification as a licensed professional engineer is advantageous. Candidates should have a strong foundation in construction engineering and contract management, with experience in the design, planning, and implementation of civil design construction and WASH projects. Familiarity with international and Ukrainian codes, policies, and standards related to WASH projects is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Public Health. A Master’s degree in these disciplines is highly desirable. The educational background should be complemented by practical experience in the WASH sector or related fields.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in the WASH sector or related fields. Experience in construction engineering, contract management, and the implementation of WASH projects is crucial. Previous work with non-governmental organizations or international organizations is considered an advantage. Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as AutoCAD, as well as planning software like MS Project, is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Ukrainian is highly desirable. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require travel to various WASH sites for monitoring and implementation purposes. The role is based in Dnipro, Ukraine, and may involve collaboration with international partners.
