Job Overview:
The position of IC-Technical Associate - Agrobiodiversity involves providing technical support and expertise in the field of agrobiodiversity. The Technical Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including farmers, researchers, and policymakers, to promote the conservation and sustainable use of agrobiodiversity. The position is home-based for a period of 11 months, allowing for flexibility while still requiring a commitment to deliver high-quality outputs. The associate will be expected to engage in research, data analysis, and the development of strategies that align with UNDP's goals in promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, the role may involve capacity building and training of local communities to enhance their understanding and management of agrobiodiversity resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IC-Technical Associate - Agrobiodiversity include but are not limited to: conducting research on agrobiodiversity and its role in sustainable agriculture; analyzing data related to agrobiodiversity and preparing reports; collaborating with local communities and stakeholders to promote best practices in agrobiodiversity management; developing training materials and conducting workshops for capacity building; providing technical advice and support to project teams; monitoring and evaluating the impact of agrobiodiversity initiatives; ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's strategic objectives; and participating in meetings and discussions to advocate for the importance of agrobiodiversity in food security and sustainable development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the IC-Technical Associate - Agrobiodiversity position must possess a strong background in agricultural sciences, environmental science, or a related field. They should have demonstrated expertise in agrobiodiversity and its applications in sustainable agriculture. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data are essential. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. A proven track record of working in international development or with UN agencies is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should be proficient in using relevant software and tools for data analysis and reporting.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least a bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences, environmental science, or a closely related field. A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of agrobiodiversity concepts and practices, as well as familiarity with sustainable agricultural methods and policies.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field of agrobiodiversity, sustainable agriculture, or environmental management. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in a UN context, is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate a history of successful project implementation and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Experience in capacity building and training of local communities is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in the regions where the projects are implemented, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with local stakeholders effectively.

This position is offered as an individual contractor role for a duration of 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and funding availability.
