Job Overview: The Digital VolunteerCoordinator will play a crucial role in the 16 Days of Activism 2025 campaign, which focuses on combating digital violence against women and girls. This position involves mobilizing a national network of 1000 digital volunteers to enhance digital literacy among youth, prevent digital violence, and promote gender equality online. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that address the unique challenges faced by young people, particularly young girls, in the digital space. This includes creating engaging content, utilizing various social media platforms, and ensuring that the campaign resonates with the target audience. The coordinator will also document risks and behaviors related to digital interactions, contributing to the broader goals of the Digital Governance Program and the National Gender Strategy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and analyze target groups, their needs, and digital habits to tailor the campaign effectively.
Co-develop a digital awareness strategy that resonates with youth, utilizing platforms such as social media, WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
Prepare and gather content including infographics, key messages, short videos, and translations in local languages (Lingala, Tshiluba, Kikongo, Swahili).
Support the creation of new content by advising on messaging, formats, storytelling, and attractive digital trends.
Ensure the implementation of awareness campaigns in respective provinces, focusing on dissemination, interactions, and peer engagement.
Collect feedback, challenges, and field responses to continuously improve the campaign's effectiveness.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences. A background in marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">digital marketing, social media management, or a related field is essential. Familiarity with the issues of gender-based violence and digital safety is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity in content creation and a passion for promoting gender equality and youth empowerment.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communications, social sciences, digital media, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience in digital marketing, community engagement, or a related field. Experience working with youth and understanding the dynamics of digital platforms is crucial. Previous involvement in campaigns addressing gender issues or violence prevention will be advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Proficiency in local languages such as Lingala, Tshiluba, Kikongo, and Swahili is highly desirable and will enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role, and while it may not offer financial compensation, it provides valuable experience in a significant international campaign. The role is expected to be full-time during the campaign period, with flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of the volunteers and the target audience.
