Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the 'Integrated and Scalable Approach to the Mixed Migration Flows by the Borders of Türkiye - Phase I' project. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively coordinate various project components, ensuring that all activities align with the strategic objectives set forth by the IOM. The successful candidate will work closely with the National Programme Officer and the IBG RTS in Vienna, taking responsibility for project management tasks such as planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The role also involves liaising with stakeholders, providing technical support to the Turkish Government, and ensuring compliance with project guidelines and financial regulations. The Project Coordinator will be expected to deliver high-quality results while fostering collaboration among team members and external partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly coordinate the implementation of the 'Integrated and Scalable Approach to the Mixed Migration Flows by the Borders of Türkiye - Phase I' project and other assigned projects.
Assist the Head of IBG Unit in managing project initiation, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Coordinate daily work and functions of assistants assigned to the project.
Manage logistical and administrative arrangements for project activities.
Monitor budget expenditures and report regularly to the supervisor.
Prepare project-related reports and coordinate recruitment of consultants and event programs.
Act as the focal point for liaising with project beneficiaries, stakeholders, and donors.
Provide technical support to the Turkish Government on irregular migration issues.
Assist in coordinating ongoing and planned projects through technical monitoring and financial oversight. 1
Support the Head of IBG Unit in planning and evaluating activities. 1
Participate in national and international meetings, prepare presentations, and draft reports. 1
Identify potential new initiatives and liaise with relevant stakeholders. 1
Research and analyze information on migration developments and share findings. 1
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, international relations, public administration, migration studies, or law from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a university degree in the aforementioned fields combined with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. A specific focus on border management, irregular migration, migrant smuggling, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security studies, and forgery detection is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong project management skills and a comprehensive understanding of migration-related issues from both operational and policy perspectives. Familiarity with financial and business administration is also essential, along with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, international relations, public administration, migration studies, or law. Candidates with a university degree in these areas, coupled with significant professional experience, may also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized and quality education.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in project management within the fields of border management, migration management, security, or related areas. Experience in liaising with governmental and non-governmental authorities, as well as international organizations, is crucial. A sound understanding of internal and international migration issues, along with familiarity in financial and business administration, is expected. Candidates should also possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draft project proposals, reports, and other documentation effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Arabic is advantageous, as it may enhance communication with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but the primary focus for this position is on English and Turkish.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar roles in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for a period of 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment and are expected to perform at a professional level, adhering to the same recruitment qualifications and performance standards as International Professional staff. Appointment is contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable.
