Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination of the 'Provision of Jobs and Socio-Economic Inclusion to Support Transition to Formal Employment in Türkiye' project. This initiative is particularly significant given Türkiye's status as home to one of the largest refugee populations globally, with over 4.3 million foreign nationals, including a substantial number of Syrians under Temporary Protection. The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator, ensuring that the project is implemented effectively and in alignment with IOM's policies and global standards. The role involves overseeing various aspects of project management, including financial, logistical, administrative, and technical components. The Project Coordinator will also monitor project implementation, document results, and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that the project meets its objectives and deadlines. This position requires strong communication skills to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, implementing partners, and civil society organizations, to foster collaboration and support for the project's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: coordinating the overall implementation of the project, ensuring compliance with IOM's policies and guidelines; overseeing financial management and reporting; monitoring project progress against the work plan and schedule; documenting and evaluating project results; identifying challenges and proposing corrective actions; leading coordination efforts among multiple implementation units; maintaining a comprehensive project communication plan; contributing to donor reporting and public-facing materials; organizing and leading stakeholder engagements, including Steering Committee Meetings; liaising with government entities, UN agencies, and civil society; and ensuring that the project promotes inclusivity and addresses the needs of vulnerable groups.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Economic Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with two years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should demonstrate experience in managing large budget projects and liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations. Knowledge of the migration context in Türkiye, particularly regarding Syrians under Temporary Protection and Persons under International Protection, is essential. Familiarity with employment, adult education, and private sector development in Türkiye is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as political or social sciences, International Relations, Economic Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred and can substitute for some professional experience.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have demonstrated experience in managing large budget projects and working in multi-cultural settings. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and UN agencies is crucial. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs is advantageous, particularly in contexts related to migration and refugee support.
Languages: Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory, both oral and written. A working knowledge of Arabic is considered advantageous. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, but proficiency in these is not required for this position.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar roles in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment and are expected to perform at a professional level, adhering to the same recruitment qualifications and performance standards as International Professional staff. Appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct incompatible with its objectives, including discrimination and harassment.
