Job Overview: The MEAL Enumerator position at IOM involves a critical role in monitoring and evaluating the organization's activities. The Enumerator will work under the supervision of the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Associate and will be responsible for conducting both remote and in-person interviews with beneficiaries. This role requires the collection of quantitative and qualitative data, as well as participation in data entry, translation, and analysis. The Enumerator will also support the implementation of accountability mechanisms, ensuring that beneficiaries' feedback is collected and documented effectively. This position is essential for understanding the impact of IOM's programs and ensuring that they meet the needs of the communities served. The Enumerator will engage directly with beneficiaries, providing insights that will help shape future interventions and improve service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MEAL Enumerator will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting in-person monitoring of IOM activities such as distributions, trainings, and awareness sessions; administering interviews with beneficiaries through both telephone and in-person methods; managing quantitative and qualitative data collection for IOM projects; supporting the organization and documentation of focus group discussions; ensuring the appropriate tools are used for data collection; complying with interview requirements and obtaining beneficiary consent; following confidentiality and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security procedures; conducting initial data quality reviews; cleaning and analyzing collected data; preparing draft monitoring reports; collecting and documenting beneficiary feedback; conducting follow-up calls to beneficiaries; supporting information provision sessions; distributing visibility materials; and completing any other tasks assigned by line managers. The Enumerator will also perform additional duties as required, contributing to the overall success of IOM's monitoring and evaluation efforts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the MEAL Enumerator position should possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. They should demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in their approach to tasks and be able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Strong communication skills are essential, particularly in conducting interviews and engaging with beneficiaries. The Enumerator should also exhibit professionalism and self-management, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with IOM's guidelines and procedures.
Educational Background: A background in social sciences, statistics, or a related field is preferred for the MEAL Enumerator position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, as well as experience in data collection and analysis. Familiarity with the migration context and the challenges faced by migrants can be advantageous, as it will enhance the Enumerator's ability to engage with beneficiaries and understand their needs.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection, or a related field. Experience working with vulnerable populations or in humanitarian settings is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable using various data collection tools and methodologies, and experience with qualitative and quantitative data analysis will be beneficial. Previous volunteer experience or work with international organizations can also be an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for the MEAL Enumerator position, as it is the primary language of communication within IOM. Proficiency in Turkish is also required, given the local context and the need to engage with beneficiaries effectively. Additional language skills relevant to the populations served by IOM may be considered an advantage, enhancing the Enumerator's ability to communicate with diverse groups.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer assignment, not an employment opportunity. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The monthly living allowance is USD 968.81, paid in Turkish Lira, along with private health, dental, life, and dismemberment insurance coverage. An entry allowance of USD 400 and an exit allowance of USD 134.56 per month upon satisfactory completion of the assignment are also provided. Volunteers will accrue 2.5 days of annual leave per calendar month and will have free access to various learning platforms and the UN & UNV network. It is important to note that UNV assignments are not compensated as salaries, and an additional IOM security clearance may be required for shortlisted candidates.
