Job Overview: The Senior Information Management Associate plays a crucial role in managing and supporting UNHCR's operational data systems. This position involves hands-on database administration, ensuring data quality, and providing system support for various databases such as RAIS, ProGres Cloud, and TuranCore. The incumbent is expected to maintain the reliability, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and performance of these databases, which are essential for the organization's protection, program, operations, and management functions. The role requires a proactive approach to database health checks, data integrity, and user support, ensuring that the databases are fit for operational use and that any issues are addressed promptly. The position also involves developing scripts for automation, maintaining documentation, and contributing to knowledge management within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct daily health checks of production databases, monitor database fragmentation levels, and perform index maintenance.
Track table sizes and growth trends, and perform routine clean-up of obsolete data.
Apply database patches and updates, ensuring test and development databases align with production environments.
Execute duplicate detection and validation checks on key datasets, and conduct routine data quality checks across systems.
Verify successful completion of daily database backups and support periodic restore tests.
Investigate failed SQL jobs and provide technical support to field offices.
Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor database health and performance indicators.
Document database schemas and maintain SOPs for common procedures.
Perform other related duties as required, ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Essential experience includes information management, database support, or data systems administration, with a demonstrated ability to support operational data systems and ensure data quality. Familiarity with large-scale operational databases and system interoperability is desirable. Core competencies required for this position include accountability, communication, organizational awareness, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma with significant relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Candidates should have a strong understanding of database management and information systems, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
Experience: The level of experience needed for this position includes at least 4 years of relevant experience in information management or database administration. Candidates with 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree will also be considered. Experience in supporting humanitarian or development operations is desirable, as is familiarity with operational data systems.

The contract is of limited duration, subject to operational needs and satisfactory service. Working hours are 40 hours per week, which may include mandatory night shifts and work on weekends or official holidays. Medical coverage is provided through Cigna Health Insurance, with options available for eligible dependents. Remuneration is based on the International Civil Services Commission salary scale at the G4 or G5 level, depending on qualifications.
